Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI staff including siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, the company emphasises safety-focused research alongside frontier model development. Claude is widely used for coding, writing, analysis, and agentic workflows, and Anthropic sells to both developers and large enterprises. Though headquartered in San Francisco, it operates a growing London presence. It is among the most heavily funded and highly valued AI companies in the world, backed by major strategic investors including Amazon and Google.
