finbar is an AI investment analyst that automates financial modelling, research and data analysis for hedge funds and investors. It automatically collects, cleans and processes data from public and private companies into time series, then builds and updates financial models, using a bespoke pipeline of numeric algorithms, text processing, OCR and LLMs. Analysts access datasets via a web app, APIs, or an Excel plugin that updates models in seconds, and the product is used by several top-20 AUM hedge funds. It was founded by Edward Huang (ex-Balyasny, Goldman Sachs) and Robin Gan (ex-Thought Machine) and is part of Y Combinator's W25 batch.
