Ineffable Intelligence

Ineffable Intelligence is a London AI lab founded in 2025 by David Silver, the former Google DeepMind researcher behind AlphaGo, AlphaZero, AlphaFold and AlphaProof, and a professor at UCL. The company is pursuing superintelligence through reinforcement learning, building a 'superlearner' that learns from its own experience rather than from human-generated internet text used by conventional large language models. It broke out of stealth with a $1.1B seed round at a $5.1B valuation, the largest seed in European history, led by Sequoia and Lightspeed with Nvidia, Google, DST Global, EQT and others; the UK's Sovereign AI Fund and British Business Bank also participated. Silver has pledged to donate his personal proceeds to charity via Founders Pledge.
