Primer

Primer is a payments-orchestration infrastructure platform that connects payment processors, optimises transaction routing, and unifies the payment stack for merchants, capturing over 400 data points per transaction. Founded in 2020 by ex-Braintree colleagues Paul Anthony and Gabriel Le Roux, it is headquartered in London. It raised a $100M Series C led by Sofina in May 2026, with Peak XV and existing investors Balderton, Accel, ICONIQ, and Tencent, bringing total funding to about $170M. The latest round funds US expansion and the addition of AI agents into payment workflows.
