xAI is Elon Musk's frontier AI lab, founded in 2023 and headquartered in Palo Alto, California. Its flagship product is Grok, a conversational AI chatbot integrated into the X (formerly Twitter) platform, alongside foundation models trained on the company's Colossus supercomputer cluster. The company has raised well over $20 billion across equity and debt rounds from major institutions including Fidelity, BlackRock, Sequoia Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz, and by 2025 employed more than 1,200 people. In early 2026 it was folded into an all-stock combination with SpaceX at a reported ~$250B valuation for xAI.
