Hugging Face operates the leading open-source hub for machine-learning models, datasets and demo apps, along with libraries such as Transformers and Datasets that are widely used across the AI industry. Developers and enterprises use its platform to discover, share, host and deploy models, making it a central piece of the open ML ecosystem. Founded in 2016 by Clement Delangue, Julien Chaumond and Thomas Wolf and headquartered in New York (with a significant presence in Paris and staff in London), it maintains a strong open-source community. It raised a $235M Series D in 2023 at a $4.5B valuation, bringing total funding to roughly $400M, with backers including Salesforce, Google, Amazon, NVIDIA and Sequoia.
